PDF page management
Split PDF Online, Free
Splitting a PDF lets you share just the relevant section of a document, reduce file size before sending an email attachment or separate scanned pages for different recipients. PDF me splits PDFs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server.
Split your PDFWhy split a PDF instead of sharing the whole file
Large PDF documents often contain sections that are meant for different people: a contract appendix for legal, a financial summary for the client, a technical spec for the engineer. Splitting saves you from sharing confidential pages with the wrong audience.
Splitting also reduces file size. A 40-page scanned report can be split into two 20-page files that each fit within an email attachment limit, without needing to compress or convert anything.
How to split a PDF into separate files
The split tool lets you define page ranges and download each range as a separate PDF file.
- Open the Split PDF tool and upload the document you want to split.
- Enter the page ranges you want to extract, for example 1-5, 6-12 or individual page numbers.
- Download each range as a separate PDF file.
Can I split a scanned PDF?
Yes. The split tool works on any valid PDF — scanned documents, fillable forms, digitally created files and password-protected PDFs (once unlocked).
Scanned PDFs are images embedded in a PDF container. The split tool handles the container structure, so it doesn't matter whether the pages contain selectable text or scanned images.
If the PDF is password-protected, remove the password first with the Remove Password tool, then split the unlocked version.
Other ways to reduce and manage PDF pages
After splitting, you may want to compress the resulting files further, or extract just a few pages without keeping all split ranges.
If you only need specific pages rather than multiple ranges, Extract Pages creates a new PDF from exactly the pages you select.
Frequently asked questions
How do I split a PDF into separate pages?
Upload the PDF to the Split PDF tool, enter each page number as its own range (for example: 1, 2, 3), and download the resulting files.
Can I split a PDF into equal parts?
Yes. Enter ranges that divide the document evenly — for example, 1-10 and 11-20 for a 20-page document.
Is splitting a PDF free?
Yes. The split tool is free to use without creating an account, and no watermark is added to the output files.
Will splitting a PDF reduce its quality?
No. Splitting only separates pages — it does not re-encode images or change any content, so quality is identical to the original.
